5 Things You Can Do To Double Your Productivity

| January 31, 2013 | 3 Comments

ProductivityYou’ve been given many responsibilities. More often than not it seems that 24 hours simply isn’t enough time in the day. You may not need to double the amount of time you have. Rather, learn how to be more productive with the time that you’ve been given. By applying these tips, you can double your productivity and accomplish everything on that to do list for once.

Block Out Distracting Noises

Learn how to cancel all the distracting noise around you. People talking in the cubical next to you, your husband watching television while you’re doing school, and everyone always wanting you to answer a question are just a few of the ways that you get distracted and your productivity goes out the window. Noise canceling headphones are a great way to cut yourself off from the distractions all around you. By investing in noise canceling headphones, you get yourself “in the zone” no matter what else is going on around you.

Get Your Snacking Under Control

Whether you realize it or not, your unhealthy diet could be what’s killing both your figure and your productivity. After working for hours at a time, people get the munchies. Instead of heading to the soda and snack vending machine, keep healthy snacks in your desk. Cut out soda from your diet. While the quick caffeine and sugar rush may seem helpful, it’s really killing your energy in the long run. Food is simply fuel. If you’re using the wrong kind, then your engine is going to die much sooner than it needs to.

Find the Perfect Chair

You should find an office chair that is comfortable to sit in for hours of the day, but not too comfortable. An uncomfortable chair will give you back problems and cause additional pain and stress. An ergonomic chair will support you and bring your comfort without the added laziness that other chairs seem to bring. You don’t need a lounge chair. You need an office chair. Chairs like those offered at Sitbetter are what you need to look for. It should support you, make you feel productive and protect your back as you sit in it for hours each day.

Work a Little Longer

While everyone wants to get in at the last minute and leave as soon as possible, a truly productive person understands the benefits of working a little longer. Get up earlier in the morning and arrive to the office about 15-30 minutes before the day starts. Take those extra minutes to catch up on administrative tasks that take about an hour out of your day. When you’re at the office early, you can knock these tasks out in no time because you’re not distracted by telephone calls and good morning pleasantries. Then, once your work day is ready to begin you can actually work instead of catching up on administrative duties.

Find a Neutral Temperature

Offices often have extreme temperatures. It’s either really hot or really cold. Uncomfortable does not equal productive. Find a temperature that you feel the most comfortable at, then stick with it. If your office is too cold, bring a space heater to warm things up. If your office is hot, get a little fan to help you cool off.

Bonus Tip: Wear Appropriate Clothing

Looking good at the office is one of the most important things to some people. But looking good and being uncomfortable in your clothing are two different things. Avoid clothes that are too small. Instead, learn how to dress appropriately. You won’t be fiddling with your clothes all day, and you can spend that extra time working instead of fidgeting.

You have enough time in the day. You’re simply not using it correctly. Apply these tips and watch your productivity skyrocket.

First thing that we must not forget is to be more focus physically and mentally. It’s so hard to work if you are thinking something aside from the task given to you.
